Sunday Morning in the Park

So here I am another load in successful, one of which I have to ask myself are they really paying me for this.  Now as I sit in the shade of a picnic area just having eaten my Subway sandwich which I bought in the park, I am listening to an Abba tribute band do their sound check.  As I am looking at the roof top for this outdoor venue I think about yet another rig that has blown down in a storm.  I am guessing that will change my business as venues realize hiring companies with under experienced riggers is not a good thing.

Granted in a freak storm with high winds I have seen the wind rip up eight foot anchor screws and pick up whole roofs complete with all the lighting and audio attached and move it several hundred yards away.  Because this happened in the middle of the night no one got hurt, but having a roof tech who puts safety first and will call the show for the safety of everyone and drop the roof this is a good thing.

For those of you going to see a show, I have two recommendations first check the weather, if you are in area prone to untimely storms stay home or see a show elsewhere and understand in the future you may be at a show where suddenly it gets shut down and the roof lowered; whatever you do, do not complain, it might be your life they just saved.
