I Walked In The Rain

I walked
In The Rain
Today
Like icicles
Splashing
In my face
Wind whipping
The air
Thankful
I am not
The wicked witch
As a puddle
I do not
Wish to be

Was pondering the news
And like the rain
The stories
Like icicles
Pierced my brain
Tears were shed
Which no one could see
For the children
Mistreated
One little girl
Deceased
Because
Of the ineptitude
Of the state's
Bureaucracies

Several more boys
Lives destroyed
Because
Other men did nothing

Save the world
I know
I can not do
But speak my mind
I will
And pray the Lord
To let me catch
One of these predators slipping
Hoping that when
The day comes
And I am faced
With the decision
I will intervene
On behalf
Of the children

So now
It is back
Into the rain
To let the wind
Whip into my face
Like icicles
Piercing my skin
Amen
