The season
Came upon us
At midnight
So clear
Never was
A time of joy
For me
Memories past
An unwanted child
Shipped off year
After year
Love a word
Not spoken here
In my ears
Yeah presents came
But meant nothing
Just more stuff
Left behind
In time
Life went on
Hope quickly gone
In my early years
Joy found
In my journeys
The rest of the year
Peace came
In my youth
When I struck
Into my own world
No rules
Telling me
When to get up
My own dog
Adventure bound
With me
Friends made
In odd places
Waking up on road cases
Names forgotten
But not their faces
Locked in
Night after night
No rules
Or hours set
New families formed
And then were gone
The world saw the pretty
And painted facades
For the families
We saw reality
Tears, laughter
The petty fights
And hugs
To make up
And then
The curtain closed
We all moved on.
I now sit alone
Years gone past
Long hours of
Busting my ass
Peace at last
And a family of my own
Now looking
For a place
We can call home
